Seine-Maritime: a territory where sport is in full swing!

The territory of Seine-Maritime is a major partner of the sports movement. Its experience in the organization of major sporting events, its proximity to Paris, its common history with the Olympics and Pierre de Coubertin, the presence of major sports clubs, several France poles and hopes on its territory are all assets to allow quality reception of foreign delegations.

The Department accompanies more than 2,000 sports clubs daily including a hundred high level as the Vikings of Rouen, the Huskies, the Rouen Football Club, the Cecifoot HAC, Rouen Normandy Rugby, Valerian Handball Stadium, the SPO Table Tennis ...

The Department also finances more than 500 sports events on the territory such as the Davis Cup, the Fed Cup, the Women's World Cup, the Handball World Championships, the Sotteville Meeting, the Sailing Tour, the Solitaire du Figaro, the Perche Elite Tour, the Seine Marathon 76, Equiseine, the Transat Jacques Vabre, the volleyball Nations League ...

Finally, the Department has high-quality sports equipment of international stature such as the Océane Stadium in Le Havre, the departmental dojo in Forges les Eaux, the Kindarena de Rouen, the athletics stadium in Sotteville and the Olympic swimming pool in the city Lacroix Island.

All these elements make Seine-Maritime, a privileged partner of the Normand Project "Get ready for gold"

Le Havre Seine Métropole rowing base

The complex, located 2 hours 30 minutes from Paris, 10 minutes from the centre of Le Havre and 15 minutes from the coast, is home to France’s oldest rowing club. It is a regular training base for many international rowers. In 2016, the French Women’s Rowing Team held its final training camp at the complex before the Head of the River Race in London. The complex is designed for elite athletes. It is practical, easy to access, and provides ideal rowing conditions whatever the weather.

Rabelais Gymnasium

The Rabelais Gymnasium is situated in the Paul Vauquelin Multisports Complex, 15 minutes from Rouen city centre and right by the A150 motorway. The gymnasium has among the largest seating capacity in the Rouen urban area (600-seat fixed grandstands and up to 1,000 with mobile grandstands). Jean Adret Municipal Stadium

Sotteville-lès-Rouen is home to Normandy’s only IAAF-approved athletics track. It has hosted a top-30 international meeting every year since 1986. It hosted the 2004 French Athletics Championships and the 2007 French Disability Sport Championships. The resident club has competed at the highest level in France for 25 years and is involved in the Olympic Solidarity programme. Sotteville-lès-Rouen Wrestling Centre

The Sotteville-lès-Rouen Wrestling Centre is one of two centres in Rouen and the surrounding area. The resident club, SSCC, has organised an international open for the past 10 years and hosts warm-ups for athletes competing in the nearby (temporary) official combat area in the stadium’s multisports room, which has a capacity of up to 1,000 spectators. The resident club has competed at the highest level in France for 10 years. Through exchanges with international athletes, SSCC is renowned around the world. The men’s team, crowned French D1 champions in 2017, includes two well-known names: world champion and Olympic wrestler Mélonin Noumonvi, and Moroccan international Choucri Attafi. Gymnastic Complex

A self-contained, men’s and women’s artistic gymnastics room (1,256 m²), opened in 2014, with Gymnova men’s and women’s gymnastics equipment, including a fast-track tumbling piste and landing pits beneath all items of equipment for training. The floor was upgraded in 2018. UFR STAPS Gymnastics Centre

The UFR STAPS Gymnastics Centre is located on the Mont-Saint-Aignan campus, 10 minutes from the centre of Rouen.
